In honor of National Women’s Day, these are some of many women who have inspired people to vouch for what they love. Do not be restricted by your ethnicity, age, or health of that matter. These extraordinary woman have brought about change in the world in a way that was unimaginable.

 

Malefe, a survivor of domestic abuse, is fighting for gender based violence.  Malafe is healing from being shot by her boyfriend of ten years. She survived having eight bullets shot into her leg. When in a wheelchair, Malefe is frequently asked what happened? She explains telling him/her that her boyfriend shot her. Malefe does  not want anyone to ever go through what she did. She dedicates her life as an activist and enlightening people of gender violence in her land Botswana.

 

Kaur, a 101 year old competitive runner, was first inspired to ru when her son took her to the track. She enjoyed the experience so much that she has never stopped since then. She is preparing to compete in the Asia Pacific Masters Game in Malaysia in September. Kaur has been inspirational to many people, because of her excellent  health and athleticity at her age, This just emphasizes the fact that age is nothing but a number!









 

 

Edna Kiplagat, a daughter of peasant farmers, won the Boston Marathon Race receiving $150,000. She has used the money to support her family. She raises 5 kids, two biological, 2 of her sister’s kids because Edna’s sister died of breast cancer, and an orphan whose parents died at an early age. She describes her daily life with five kids as “not hard.” She elaborates by explaining that she prioritizes her time well and is very organized making it very simple and easy to balance being a mother and being an athlete.








 

 

Hamayaji, a mother of 10, made a promised herself that she will always protect her children for life whatever it takes. Hamyaji lived in a place where Boko Haram, a terrorist  group, has killed 20,000 people and had abducted people in their eight years of active revolt and uprising. Boko Haram found out by an outsider that Hamayaji had a daughter of marriageable age. Hamayaji would never allow anyone to take her kids against their will to use them. Hamayaji pretended to be insane, supposing that insurgents wouldn’t want to mess with a madwoman. Her courage and love for her kids has been very inspirational. She now lives in a camp in her hometown.
